Education ideas

Global International Fair Trade Story is supported by a data stick full of educational material in clear folders which includes:-

  • Fairis in Nepal
  • Women's Skills Development Organisation & the products being made
  • Short video of a school link supported by Pahar Trust Nepal and British Council Connections Classrooms

  • Overview of Nepal
  • Rural and urban Nepal
  • A day-in-the-life of a Nepalese boy and girl
  • The impact and response to the Earthquake in April 2015

Lesson Plan suggestions

  • From Maths, English, Geography and Art to suggestions on linking the story to Rights Respecting School and British Values
  • Lesson plans have been developed by Fair Connections and shared by teachers
  • We plan to add to these as more and more teachers get involved

  • Using the puppets and other resources a number of activities which can be adapted by teachers are included on the data stick

Empty folder

  • For you to save and then share your work using Fairis and the story sack
  • Why not tweet images and tag Fairis using @fairconnections or #fairconnections #fairis to share your work and ideas and connect to others working with Fairis to learn about Nepal and fair trade

The aim though is for teachers to use and adapt this material, develop their own

and then share it back with the fair connections community.

As the number of schools grow using the story sack both here and in Nepal the ideas will develop meaning children in Nepal and the UK can learn together!

More on this later - small steps for now

Fair Connections aims to deepen understanding of what it means to be fair in a globalised world.

Through stories and fairly produced educational material young people are provided with creative ways of thinking through complex issues.

We can help create new exciting connections between different schools working towards a more equitable and just society.
